Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health-care profession that focuses on the spine and other joints of the body, the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia), and their connection to the nervous system.

Dr. Bill Cowdrey began working as a student athletic trainer for his high school’s teams and in the offices of their team physicians. That work, along with his academic record, led to a full scholarship to U.C.L.A., where Bill worked with the team physicians and renowned trainer Elvin C. “Ducky” Drake, along with legendary coaches John Wooden, Al Scates, Gary Adams, Dick Vermeil and Terry Donahue. He was part of teams that won a Rose Bowl and multiple NCAA Championships.

After graduating from U.C.L.A. with majors in kinesiology and psychobiology, Bill became the Head Athletic Trainer and Certified Instructor of physical education and sports medicine courses at Los Angeles Valley College. He subsequently worked in physical therapy full-time for several years and then part-time while working to obtain his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, cum laude (with honors) from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1988.

Dr. Cowdrey began his work as a chiropractor in 1989, and in 1990 joined a multispecialty medical group with orthopedic surgeons and family practitioners in Laguna Hills as Director of their BackCare Center. While directing that practice, Dr. Cowdrey became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, and Qualified Medical Examiner for the state of California.

Dr. Cowdrey joined CAP Alternative Therapy in 2016. He and his wife, Sara, live in Coto de Caza and have two grown children. He is pleased to utilize his expertise to help patients of all ages get out of pain and “back in the game” as quickly and safely as possible.
