Dr. Robert Sanders has been an integral part of CAP Alternative Therapy since 2020, dedicating himself to mastering the advanced techniques developed by Mr. Chuck Pechin. Under Mr. Pechin’s mentorship, Dr. Sanders has refined his expertise in treating athlete injuries, seamlessly incorporating these innovative methods into his practice.
Dr. Sanders earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Miami University of Ohio in 2015. Originally planning to pursue medical school, his career took a pivotal turn after a transformative experience with alternative care. Following a high school weightlifting injury that initially required surgery, he recovered within just a few visits to a rehab chiropractor. This experience ignited his passion for chiropractic care and set the foundation for his future career.
He went on to complete his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, widely regarded as the premier institution for sports chiropractic education.
After graduation, Dr. Sanders practiced abroad in Singapore for a year, where he honed his skills and expanded his expertise by studying traditional Chinese medicine, including acupuncture and dry needling.
Returning to the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Sanders joined CAP Alternative Therapy and has been collaborating closely with Chuck Pechin ever since.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Sanders cherishes time with his family—his wife, Dr. Angelica (a chiropractor specializing in pregnancy care), their daughter, Zari (a frequent visitor to the clinic), and their maltipoo, Coco. Together, they enjoy hiking, beach outings, and discovering new activities. Dr. Sanders’ personal interests include golf, snowboarding, and surfing, reflecting his passion for an active lifestyle.
Dr. Angelica Malek, a native of SoCal, obtained her doctorate of chiropractic from the prestigious Palmer Chiropractic College West after completing a B.S. degree in Kinesiology at University of San Francisco.
Dr. Angelica has practiced chiropractic for years globally in countries like Peru and Singapore. In Peru, she partnered with the International Rotary Club to provide chiropractic care to under served populations. She would routinely see over 50 patients per day, as Peruvians came from all across the country to see her. In Singapore, she worked on site major tech company medical centers including Apple and WeWork among others. While practicing abroad, she enjoyed submerging herself in the culture and traveling to nearby destinations. During this time, she became certified in dry needling, a form of acupuncture specifically for muscle tension.
Dr. Angelica’s specialty and passion is in Webster Technique, which involves chiropractic for pre-natal and pregnant women. This technique allows the pelvis and pelvic organs to be in the best position for a successful and easy pregnancy. In addition, Dr. Angelica is certified in Active Release Technique, a form of sports massage. For those that prefer non-force adjustments, she performs Activator and Impulse IQ techniques.
Because of COVID, Dr. Angelica returned back to the United States and started Surf City Natural Healings in Huntington Beach, CA. Her mission is to provide the highest quality of care to the community and to get patients feeling their best!
